About Us

Our Process

Our collaborative approach to mental wellness therapy allows for a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients can tell their story, overcome challenges, find solutions, and develop their preferred story. Through equine therapy, with the assistance of our equine team members, and traditional talk therapy, clients are able to work on issues that influence their lives as something separate from themselves. The problem is the problem.

"The most powerful therapeutic process I know is to contribute to rich story development." - Michael White

Why Horses?

Due to their size and intelligence as a prey animal, horses are extremely sensitive to their environment and instinctively react to verbal and non-verbal cues. As a result, through equine therapy, clients are able to find solutions and create lasting change through re-authoring stories, strengthening their experience of the here and now, and collaboratively developing solutions with the assistance of horses.

The Team

Our mental wellness team consists of a mental health professionals, equine specialists, our client(s) and the horses.  Our mental health professionals and equine specialists are EAGALA certified.  Our horses range in size and breed, and have found their second careers as valued members of our team.

"I was skeptical at the beginning, but now I am really glad I came.  I have never had an experience like this.  I have learned so much through equine therapy." - Client with a history of drug and alcohol misuse.

"The horses allow me to be with Peace and get some distance from Anxiety." - Client with a history of severe social anxiety.

"I usually have a hard time outside because roof lines and things out of place are triggering.  But, today, I looked down at my mini buddy...and he was fine...so I was fine."  - Veteran client with a story of four deployments, who has been able to create some distance from PTSD, Anxiety, Depression and Panic Attacks.

"It has been nice being able to see the issues that have been crushing me in a different way.  I have stepped out from under them and am now working on my preferred story." - Client with a history of depression and domestic violence.

“I am honored to share in the journey of transformation.” –Katie Sullivan, AMFT, EAGALA certified
